It’s amazing how God can shift your perspective. My husband an I planned to buy a house approximately three years ago. Even though we were still tight on a budget we did found a piece of land nearby to build our house by signing up with a project developer. Our first intention was to build a tiny house. Our budget just wasn’t big enough for a bigger house and it fitted our mindset at that time to declutter. Little did we know, God had others plans!
During the process
The process to obtain the land to build our new house was long and hard. It all started in December 2018. The people that originally signed up for the project were 250, only 40 got selected. We got selected as number 35, pfff we made it in! The number of people that lasted till the end: 8. And we are still one of them. Many people gave up during the process, made other plans, didn’t trust the property developer and for some people the consequences of the pandemic made it impossible to obtain a mortgage to buy the house.
During the process to obtain the land my husband got sick, lost his income and we were uncertain about the fact if we could still afford to buy the land. Through these difficult circumstances we applied for a bigger house by trusting God. And then during his sickness my husband landed a great job (with my help of course ;)) and he got better. Our abilities to buy a tiny house changed slowly to a more convenient home. And eventually we had the opportunity to build a villa on the land we bought. You can read more about our journey to financial fitness here.
Think differently
God told us that the house wasn’t for our own entertainment. No, the house was given to us to serve others. It was given to us to labor for the Kingdom of God. With this knowledge God commanded us to think big. Not just about what our personal needs are, but to meet the needs of the people He has given us to serve.
God’s plans for this house are far more greater than what we could ever think of. My husband and I will document the journey of building our dream house. Follow me on instagram to see my stories (@natashagrace.nl). Mind you that we came from a social rented appartment and now have a large estate in the country side. Who could imagine that? I know I didn’t. But the best part about all of this is that it’s not about the bricks or the size of land. It’s about God’s presence, His purpose for our life’s and His plan for us to serve others through His love. God has far more greater plans than we can imagine. God’s plan exceeded our expectations. My husband and I will continue to trust, believe and obey His will.
Building a house in The Netherlands
It is our step-by-step plan to financial freedom that enables us to afford the house. To give you a better understanding of the journey we went through to obtain the land I’ll briefly describe the most important decisions in Part 2 next year.
This is the right website for anybody who hopes to understand this topic. You realize so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I personally would want to…HaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a topic that has been written about for years. Excellent stuff, just excellent!
