‘I’ll push you’ is a book about the true story of Patrick (Paddy) and Justin (Skeez) when they decide to walk the pilgrimage of 771 km (479 miles) in Spain: Santiago de El Camino. No easy decision, considering the fact that Justin is sitting in a wheelchair with no possibility to move his hands or feet. The brave words of Patrick ‘I’ll push you’ brings these guys from The United States to Spain with the job to get the impossible done.
1. Set goals
Have you ever decided upon a task so hard it seems impossible to accomplish? I have decided that I need to get outside my comfort zone this year in order for me to reach my full potential. Blogging in English is an example of that (Dutch is my mother tongue). This year I have also set the following goals:
- Walking the Nijmeegse vierdaagse. One of the biggest walking tours in The Netherlands: four days of walking 30-40 km (18-24 miles) per day. I love walking long distances just like Paddy and Skeez.*
- No more personal debt (expect for our mortgage). The follow-up plan is to pay off our mortgage within five year.
- Buy our first detached house with a large garden.
- Start building a succesful business with great impact on people’s life.
- Write my first book on natural kinky curly hair (in Dutch).
2. Reach for the potential of your believe
As I look at this list I wonder if I will be able to attain all of these goals within the year 2020. My answer is: it’s up to me to decide whether this is impossible or possible. By setting goals that are actually way beyond my reach I make it possible to think big. With the right mindset I am already halfway there. Transforming your thinking is usally the biggest obstacle to reach your goal. The book ‘I’ll push you’ is a great example of a life where you can achieve anything if you simply believe. Fear will keep you back from believing that great things are within your reach. Fear makes you think you are ‘safe’ and it feels good to be in control. Nobody likes to sign up for chaos or storms in their life.
3. Don’t hold back
When I look back at my life I can honestly say that I have been holding myself back at doing certain things due to the fact that I was always focused on the limitations of my wallet. By focusing on the amount of money I have in my pocket I will never be able to reach my full potential. I actually never really had enough money to travel. However, I did visit Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, The United States, Surinam, England, Belgium, Germany, France and Portugal with my family during the past ten years. With the help of my husband and my family members I was able to achieve this. How can it be that I am still holding myself back with my poor mindset? In fact, I know I’m the wealthiest that I will ever be in a lifetime. Rich in love, kindness, faith, determination and consistency. These possession have an immeasurable value that will take you anywhere. Let nothing stop you from your destiny, no disease (look at Justin) and no money (look at me). Having the right mindset will completely change your life. You will be surprised about the journey you will embark on.
